Duties
The LVN to RN Program Director is a Registered Nurse who has additional experience and expertise in educational program coordination and management. The LVN/EMT-P/Med Tech V to RN Program Director works collaboratively with the School of Nursing and Emergency Management Dean to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and manage the LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN Programs at the extended campus locations. In the absence of the School of Nursing and Emergency Management Dean, the LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV Program Director will act as School of Nursing and Emergency Management Dean as appropriate for the responsibilities of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Direction:
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV Programs at the extended campus sites.
- Work collaboratively with enrollment, records, student finance, Counseling Center, Student Success Center, ITTS, library, Veteran’s Services, and the bookstore in providing off-campus LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN student services.
- Participate in recruitment activities for the LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV program.
- Oversee that all LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN program and recruitment materials reflect current admission policies and procedures.
- Plan, direct, and participate in the required orientation and bridge course (NURS 210/213) for new LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN students.
- Arrange and schedule classroom facilities at the extended campus sites.
- Plan, arrange, and direct extended campus special functions as indicated.
- Serve as primary liaison between extended campuses, the School of Nursing, clinical facilities used by LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN students, extended campus faculty, and PUC.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours at the Napa campus to represent PUC and the School of Nursing.
- Monitor extended campus budget and participate in budget review and forecasting.
- Teach NURS 326 (Management & Professional Practice) at extended campus sites.
Campus Operations and Facilities Oversight Specific to Napa Campus
- Maintain overall operational oversight of the Napa campus, ensuring a safe, functional, and professional learning environment.
- Manage all aspects of the campus lease, including coordination with commercial property management for required repairs, maintenance obligations, and facility-related concerns covered under the lease terms.
- Arrange and monitor regular facility maintenance per lease requirements, ensuring timely completion and minimal disruption to academic activities.
- Oversee classroom and common-area cleanliness, including restrooms; provide hands-on support with cleaning and restocking supplies during intensive classroom sessions as needed.
- Coordinate essential campus services, such as custodial support and trash collection, ensuring reliable and consistent service.
- Procure, organize, and maintain all campus supplies, including instructional materials, office and bathroom supplies, and facility-related items.
- Orient new and adjunct faculty to the Napa campus facilities, resources, and operational procedures.
- Ensure proper functioning of classroom and campus technology; troubleshoot minor issues and arrange technical support when needed.
- Maintain oversight of campus security, including access control, safety protocols, and coordination with property management.
Faculty Support and Oversight:
- Recruit and participate in the screening and selection of extended campus faculty.
- Provide orientation to all new LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN extended campus faculty.
- Meet regularly with extended campus faculty to identify at-risk students and to develop a plan for successful resolution.
- Coordinate off-campus travel arrangements for faculty.
- Coordinate and edit extended campus syllabi to reflect specific facility and extended campus requirements while maintaining congruency with department policies and practices.
- Promotes a supportive and collaborative teaching environment that encourages professional growth, open communication, and continuous improvement among full-time and adjunct faculty.
- Provides guidance and support to adjunct faculty in developing, updating, and maintaining course syllabi to ensure alignment with program outcomes, institutional learning objectives, and accreditation standards.
- Assists adjunct faculty in building and maintaining Canvas course sites that reflect consistency and congruency with program objectives and course outcomes.
- Serves as a resource to adjunct faculty regarding instructional expectations, grading timelines, and course management processes.
- Conducts regular check-ins with adjunct faculty to offer mentorship, answer questions, and provide clarification on program policies or student issues.
- Submits mid-term and final grades to Records.
Program Evaluation:
- Participate in short- and long-term planning and goals of the extended campus LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV to RN program.
- Participate in the assessment, evaluation, review, and planning of the PUC nursing programs to ensure continuity between campuses, programs, approval, and accrediting requirements.
- Oversee the evaluation process for student, faculty, program, and clinical evaluations for the extended campus LVN/EMT-P/Med TechV program.
Academic Direction:
Students
- Plan and develop all theory and clinical LVN/EMT-P/Med-Tech to RN program schedules
- Serve as the academic advisor for all extended campus LVN/EMT-P/Med-Tech to RN students and assist prospective students as needed.
- Coordinate and facilitate all pre-admission testing required for entrance into the AS Nursing program at the extended campus sites.
- Act as the primary liaison for extended campus students throughout their enrollment at PUC, ensuring clear communication and continuity between campuses.
- Provide counseling and support to all at-risk LVN/EMT-P/Med-Tech to RN students to promote timely resolution of identified concerns and enhance student success.

- Participate in Napa/Solano Nursing Education Advisory Council
Clinical Direction:
- Pursue clinical partnership contracts as needed and maintain cooperative relationships with all affiliated clinical agencies.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of designated clinical settings to ensure compliance with BRN requirements and nursing accreditation standards.
- Meet each session with clinical agency’s education liaison and/or nursing administration to verify continued compliance with facility policies and accreditation expectations.
- Regularly visit clinical groups and sites to assess student performance, evaluate the adequacy of clinical learning experiences, and support faculty in meeting program objectives.

Education and/or Experience
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of one year teaching experience in a professional nursing program or as a nursing staff educator in the service setting. Candidates without this experience may be considered if they have had educational preparation in nursing education.
- Meets CA BRN criteria for Assistant Instructor or Instructor.
- Program management experience and/or administrative experience desired.
