Duties

Pacific Union College is seeking responsible, service-oriented student lifeguards to ensure the safety of all individuals using the campus pool facilities. As a representative of a Christian institution, lifeguards are expected to promote and uphold the values of the college by maintaining a professional, respectful, and Christ-centered attitude in all interactions.

Essential Functions:  

  • Monitor pool activities to ensure the safety of swimmers and prevent accidents.
  • Enforce all pool rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until emergency medical services arrive.
  • Perform daily checks of pool area, equipment, and water quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of pool deck, locker rooms, and related areas.
  • Participate in in-service training and lifeguard drills as scheduled.
  • Report maintenance issues, incidents, and disciplinary concerns to the supervisor.
  • Serve as a role model consistent with the college’s Christian mission and values.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED (or equivalent).
  • Ability to remain alert and act quickly in emergencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the Christian values and mission of the college.

Information Management:

  • Treats all information and data within the scope of the position w/confidentiality and security.

Risk Management:

  • Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:  

  • Experience:                    
  • Previous lifeguard experience.
  • Knowledge of pool operations
  • Familiarity with Christian higher education environments.
  • License/Certification: Valid lifeguard certification

Preferred Position Qualifications:

  • Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED (or equivalent).
  • Ability to remain alert and act quickly in emergencies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the Christian values and mission of the college.

Compensation

Hourly; (plus denominational benefits, depending upon qualifications and experience)
