Duties
Pacific Union College is seeking responsible, service-oriented student lifeguards to ensure the safety of all individuals using the campus pool facilities. As a representative of a Christian institution, lifeguards are expected to promote and uphold the values of the college by maintaining a professional, respectful, and Christ-centered attitude in all interactions.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor pool activities to ensure the safety of swimmers and prevent accidents.
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until emergency medical services arrive.
- Perform daily checks of pool area, equipment, and water quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of pool deck, locker rooms, and related areas.
- Participate in in-service training and lifeguard drills as scheduled.
- Report maintenance issues, incidents, and disciplinary concerns to the supervisor.
- Serve as a role model consistent with the college’s Christian mission and values.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED (or equivalent).
- Ability to remain alert and act quickly in emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.
- Demonstrated alignment with the Christian values and mission of the college.
Information Management:
- Treats all information and data within the scope of the position w/confidentiality and security.
Risk Management:
- Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
- Experience:
- Previous lifeguard experience.
- Knowledge of pool operations
- Familiarity with Christian higher education environments.
- License/Certification: Valid lifeguard certification
Preferred Position Qualifications:
- Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED (or equivalent).
- Ability to remain alert and act quickly in emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.

Compensation
Hourly; (plus denominational benefits, depending upon qualifications and experience)
