Duties
The Director of Off-Campus Programs serves a dual role as the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)–recognized Assistant Director for the prelicensure program and as a key operational and academic leader supporting the Dean of Nursing. This position’s primary responsibility is the supervision, coordination, and quality assurance of the nursing program’s off-campus sites. The Director of Off-Campus Programs ensures compliance with BRN and ACEN accreditation standards, oversees clinical placement logistics, and provides leadership for faculty and students at remote instructional locations. The Director of Off-Campus Programs must be qualified to assume full administrative responsibility in the Dean’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as Assistant Director in accordance with BRN §1420(f), including assuming administrative authority in the Dean’s absence.
- Supervise and manage operations of off-campus nursing programs, ensuring consistency in instructional delivery, clinical standards, and academic integrity across sites.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the main campus and all off-campus instructional locations.
- Coordinate off-campus clinical placements and monitor site compliance with clinical objectives and BRN-mandated ratios.
- Provide direct supervision and mentorship to off-campus faculty and staff; participate in hiring, evaluation, and professional development.
- Maintain a system for monitoring program quality, including student learning outcomes, faculty performance, and site-specific challenges.
- Ensure timely communication of policy changes, accreditation updates, and institutional initiatives to off-campus teams.
- Collaborate with the Dean to prepare reports and documentation for BRN and ACEN accreditation and site visits.
- Assist with curriculum development and program improvement efforts that impact both on- and off-campus instruction.
- Teach up to one course per term as assigned, based on program needs.
- Engage in college governance, nursing department planning, and strategic initiatives.
Desirable Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current, active, and unencumbered California Registered Nurse license.
- Master’s degree or higher in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in a nursing program.
- At least one (1) year of direct patient care experience as an RN.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage remote instructional teams and coordinate off-campus academic operations.
- Strong knowledge of BRN and ACEN standards and regulatory expectations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Doctorate in nursing or related field.
- Experience administering or overseeing satellite or distance-based programs.
- Familiarity with simulation, hybrid instruction, and remote faculty development.
- Experience with accreditation self-studies and site visits.
