ABC Director Message
At Pacific Union College, we affirm that every individual is created in the Imago Dei the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This foundational truth underpins our commitment to creating an environment where all people are valued, included, and empowered to thrive. As the Director for Diversity, my work is rooted in this belief: that each person possesses inherent dignity and worth, a dignity granted to them by God.
The Accessibility, Belonging, and Culture (ABC) Council is driven by the vision of the Beloved Community, where every member of our campus can fully participate in both academic and social life. Accessibility ensures that no one is excluded due to barriers, Belonging affirms that everyone regardless of background, ability, or identity, has a rightful place at the table, and Culture celebrates the beauty of diversity, honoring the stories, values, and traditions that define who we are as a community.
Scripture calls us to "act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God" (Micah 6:8). This mandate compels us to reflect God’s justice, extend grace and compassion in our interactions, and pursue humility as we learn from one another. Jesus’ ministry consistently uplifted the marginalized, embraced the outsider, and dismantled the walls that divide. We are called to model that same inclusive and radical love of Jesus.
Our goal is to foster a campus culture where belonging is not a mere aspiration, but a lived reality, and where diversity is not just celebrated but understood as a reflection of God’s creative expression for humanity. As we move forward, may we be a community that reflects Christ’s call to compassion and love.
