PUC Employment

Student Worker Position – The Health Department is looking for a student to work during morning hours. Responsibilities are mostly those of a receptionist, including filing and answering phones. If interested, please fill out an application and send to Sandy Sargent ssargent@puc.edu.

Chevron Cashier attendant needed. Must have cash register experience. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Must be able to work all shifts. Apply to Chevron with your resume and class schedule. Land Management Land management is looking for workers to start immediately. Duties include but are not limited to:  Moving irrigation pipes, splitting wood and other manual labor. Nursing & Health Sciences The Nursing & Health Sciences Department is looking for a student (2 positions available) starting Fall 2017 (Freshman or Sophomore preferred). Hours are flexible and change from quarter to quarter. Positions are not guaranteed from quarter to quarter. Must have good professional communication, writing and computer skills. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Duties include answering phones, typing, filing, projects, etc. Must be punctual when scheduled to work. If interested come by the nursing office to submit an application. Applications can be picked up at the Nursing office. Unfortunately, Pre-Nursing, Nursing, Health Science, & Emergency Services students CANNOT work in the Nursing department.

Public Safety – Now hiring a Student Communications Dispatcher. The dispatcher is responsible for general operation of PUC’s 24-hour Communications Center. The position maintains responsibility for the control and direction of incoming and outgoing telephone calls, visitor information, coordination of emergency conditions, and the dispatch of security and ambulance personnel. The job starts in the summer and will continue all year round. Summer hours are eight hour shifts including nights and weekends. School year hours are four hour shifts during the week and eight hour shifts on the weekends. Work schedule is created around dispatcher’s class schedule. Bon Appetit Dining CommonsAttention PUC students. Looking for servers and deli help Mondays – Fridays from 11AM – 1PM. There are other positions available as well. Please see Karen at the Dining Commons or e-mail her at kschall@puc.edu.

Tutors Apply for a tutoring job if you are at least a sophomore, responsible and dependable, can explain concepts well to peers, and excel in one (or more) of these subject areas:  Biology, Chemistry/Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Writing Lab/English, Nutrition, Microbiology, all Nursing classes, Physics, Statistics, History, Spanish/Modern Languages. Facilities Management­ ­– The facilities management department is now hiring. Various areas include Co-Generation Plant, Plumbing, Sign Shop, Trash/Recycle Plant, Waste Water, and Welding. Students must be dependable, hardworking, and able to work with minimal supervision once training is complete. A current driver’s license (with a clear driving record) is required to perform the assigned duties. Students must be able to work a minimum of eight hours per week and two hours per shift. Landscape Department A landscaping position is available. Job duties would include maintaining campus flowers, irrigation system maintenance and repair, cleaning up litter, replacing shrubs and trees, and re-landscaping. Students must be able to work a minimum of eight hours per week and two hours per shift. Shifts are 7:30AM-12PM and 1PM-4:30PM Monday-Thursday and 6AM-12PM on Fridays. Cogen/Heating Plant Position The facilities management department is looking for students who can work at least ten hours a week, are responsible and willing to learn, can work during the school year and during breaks, have a valid CA driver’s license with a clear driving record, and are willing to be trained in steam line/heating/electrical systems. Responsibilities will include on duty monitoring of Co-gen operations, answering phones and radios, and relaying messages over the phone and/or radio. Boys & Girls ClubSt. Helena Boys & Girls Club are looking for Recreation Aides. The role of recreation aide is to work with the kids as a mentor and to safely supervise activities. Rec aides also get to run weekly, life-altering programs for kids. Some examples of these programs are Healthy Habits (cooking), Girls Club, Guys Club, Sewing, Book-writing, soccer, basketball, and more. A rec aide will be most successful if they have a love for fun and prior experience working with kids in some capacity. The required skills are supervision and patience and the ability to use good judgement in a variety of situations. Hours are 15-20 per week, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays 3-6PM, Wednesday and Friday 12:30-6PM. Wages are $11.50 to $15 per hour. Teen Center – St. Helena Teen Center is looking for an afternoon staff to help create and maintain a positive, safe environment for middle-school youth. You must be a high-school graduate, age 18+ with prior leadership experience working with youth incorporating activities as arts & crafts, sports, games, computers instructions, homework tutoring, etc. Current certification in Community CPR, First Aid & Safety. Must be available to work at least 4 business days from 3:00 pm. – 6:30 pm. Pay is $17.14-20.80 per hour. Duties include: Responsible for the direct supervision and safety of all after-school Teen Center participants. Implements & follows all Teen Center Guidelines, Policies & Procedures. Plans, creates and participates in Teen Center activities, providing the youth with an active, positive role model. Dietary Staff – Looking for an aide to help with dishwashing, light food preparation, some light baking, kitchen cleaning, as well as serving beverages to our clients. Also looking for a cook to prepare meals for up to sixty people, serve the meals to our clients, and do light kitchen cleaning.

On-Call Rehabilitation Assistants – Assist clients with independent living skills, prompt for activities of the day, teach skills needed to assist client to move to a lower level of care, work closely with the team, document client’s progress & participation in our program.

Nurses – Nurses needed to administer medication, coordinate with treatment team, communicate with physicians for orders and report of clients’ condition, documentation of orders, treatments, daily and weekly progress and concerns, also lead group on medication & medical issues.
