Vola Andrianarijaona, a professor of physics at Pacific Union College and a winner of a grant from the National Science Foundation, recently returned from a research trip to Tennessee’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, one of the world’s top experimental physics laboratories.

Taylor Named Educator of the Year, Again

At Thursday morning’s Faculty Awards Colloquy, PUC business professor Lary Taylor was named Educator of the Year. This is the third time Taylor has won the award—an unprecedented feat in PUC history.

Quarter hours of credit for each course is listed on Lantern. A number of courses have specific prerequisites. Students who are unfamiliar with prerequisites should consult the regular PUC Catalog before registration.

During summer school, PUC offers tuition savings to all students who enroll, except those taking directed study courses.

Dining Commons

$35/week
A minimum board fee will be charged for Dining Commons use only. The Dining Commons is open during the summer on Monday-Thursday, from 11 am-6 pm; and Friday-Saturday, from 11 am-1:30 pm. Call the Office of Student Services at 707-965-7362 for more information.


  • Women and families may make residence hall housing arrangements by calling Winning Hall at (707) 965-6313.
  • Men may make residence hall housing arrangements by calling Newton Hall at (707) 965-7418.

It is assumed that you will be a single occupant (with a single occupant rate) unless you make arrangements for someone to share the room with you. Room rates as quoted do not include linen. Projected room charges are due at the time of registration for each course.

*this rate is available for students attending workshops and for residents who are working full time on campus.

Summer Residence Hall Discount

There is a special 50% off the full room rate during the summer for students who are:

  1. Employed on campus and taking PUC classes.
  2. Taking classes full time.
  3. Living in the Residence Halls.

Music Lessons

$200/hour, with credit (tuition additional)
$300/hour, no credit

Payment

Full payment at the time of registration for each course is required for all tuition, workshop fees, and projected room and board (see Expenses). All students who register for summer school are subject to the financial policies as stated in the annual Bulletin regarding payment of their accounts and release of transcripts.

Academic Standards and Policies

The regulations printed in the college Catalog and Student Guide apply to the summer session. Students are advised to become familiar with these regulations.

Library Services

As a Pacific Union College Summer School student, you may use the in-house services of the Nelson Memorial Library free of charge. To obtain a library card, apply at the library circulation desk.

Summer School for Educators

Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Shakespeare in Performance: ENGL 212 (2-3 credits)

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is the nation's oldest and largest rotating repertory theater. Located in the town of Ashland, the Festival has staged top-quality productions of Shakespeare and other great playwrights for seventy-five years. Join us for this unique class experience. Those who do not need college credit can come simply for the joy of being immersed in the work of Shakespeare. 

Dates: Tuesday, August 7 - Thursday, August 9 CANCELLED FOR SUMMER 2012

Location: Ashland, Oregon (Oregon Shakespeare Festival)

Plays: For Summer 2013: The Taming of the Shrew, King Lear, Cymbeline, and Midsummer Night's Dream.

Tour Cost:
Non-credit tour: $450
Course for credit: $400 plus tuition [2-3 credits].
(50% discount on summer tuition: $350 per credit hour.)
Cost includes play tickets, backstage tour, discussion with an actor, farewell group dinner, and department fee. Tour Cost does not include transportation, food, or lodging.

Lodging: Participants must make their own arrangements (Contact Program Coordinator for suggestions on the most affordable options).

Transportation: Participants must supply own transportation (Ashland is approx. 5 hours by car from PUC)

Deadlines: Full payment due Monday, July 2, 2012

Cancellations: A complete refund will be available for cancellations received prior to July 2, 2012. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AFTER JULY 2.

Late Applications: Late applications will be accepted, space permitting, until Ashland's final payment deadline in early-July. However, applications received after July 2 will be ineligible for refund.
