The PUC Film Program equips students with the creative vision and technical skills to succeed in the world of filmmaking, from pre-production to post.

Our program blends hands-on production experience with a strong foundation in storytelling, cinematography, editing, and sound design. Students work with industry-standard equipment and software while developing their unique artistic voice.

21st Annual · Cameo Cinema, St. Helena

PUC's annual student film festival showcases work created throughout the academic year on the big screen. The 2025 festival featured 20 films and drew 130 attendees.

Common questions about the program

The computers used for editing consist of eight M2 Pro Mac Mini's and also a high powered Windows desktop that utilizes an Intel i9 and a 3070.

Our lab computers come installed with both DaVinci Resolve Studio, Final cut, and the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Eight Mac Minis, one Window's desktop, as well as another Window's desktop designated for color grading that lives in its own specializing color grading room.

Ursa Mini Pro 12k, One Blackmagic Pocket 6k gen 2, two Blackmagic Pocket 6ks gen 1, four Canon C100s II, and a Sony a7III.

The dept owns a range of still and cinema lenses from 10mm to 300mm. We mostly use EF mount. Some of the various lenses are: Pictor T2.8 Super35 Zoom 3-Lens Kit from DZOFilm, Five Prime Sigma Cine Lens, 3 Great Joy Anamorphic prime lenses, Rokinon Prime kit, and a Laowa Venus Optics 24mm f/14 Probe Lens.

We have a variety of lighting gear and lot of high-powered LED lights and hot lights.

Yes, we have a variety of stabilizers like steadicams, gimbals, and glidecams. We do have a track, dana dolly and a platform dolly. We also have a box truck where we put a lot of grip/lighting gear that is used to easily transport equipment.

We have a film studio in construction currently that will have full studio lighting. It includes a designated prop, and dressing room, a set space with set walls for quick environment changes, a second sound studio for recording, and a space for basic studio lighting use with green screen and other background colors. The photo dept also has a studio space downstairs that includes a ton of other great stuff.
