Life at PUC
School of Sciences

In the summer of 2023, all PUC academic departments merged into one of three schools. The School of Sciences includes the basic sciences, behavioral sciences, and kinesiology. As dean of the School of Sciences, I collaborate with department chairs and faculty to identify priorities and action steps. I work with a great team of department chairs and implement and carry out academic, enrollment, student life, and advancement initiatives with their help.
I am proud of the School of Sciences' work and want to report on a few of our initiatives in this newsletter.
The School of Sciences STEM Scholarship (2025-26) application cycle opens on January 13. Scholarship recipients receive a (renewable) $5000 award. Furthermore, each scholar becomes part of a unique learning community, participating in activities that enhance academic success and career preparation. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis. Visit our application to apply.
In February, PUC will partner with LLU to host a STEM and Health Professions workshop for students in grades 10-12. From February 23-24, PUC and LLU professionals and faculty will work together to guide students through hands-on and engaging experiences in STEM and health professions. Students will learn what they can do in high school and college to prepare for graduate and professional school and the STEM career or health profession of their dreams. Sign up for this event.
The Alumni Seminar Series is now in its third year. Each quarter, we invite School of Sciences alumni to talk about their academic and personal experiences at PUC and their journey to their careers. We wanted to give our current students an idea of what they are doing and the great diversity of paths people take. We are blessed to have a long roster of engaged alumni who love PUC and have wonderful memories of their time with us. If you or someone you know is interested in participating, please email sciences@puc.edu
Summer 2025 will mark our fourth year working with PUC’s Alumni Office to host an Alumni Retreat at Albion Field Station open to all PUC alumni. We extend a special invitation to those who enjoy learning about the nature and natural history of the Mendocino Coast. The Birding Bonanza is an “add-on” to the regular weekend festivities. Mark your calendars now for August and register at Birding Bonanza & Alumni Retreat - Pacific Union College
