Meet the Counselors

Cambria Wheeler

Hometown: Santa Rosa, California

Degrees: B.A. in History

Hobbies: Reading, hiking, theater, and old cars

Cambria in one word: Enthusiastic

What I love about PUC: Everyone is part of a community of thinkers, and the classrooms aren’t the only place learning happens. You can find out something new by going to vespers, hanging out in the dorm, or talking to a professor in the market.

Favorite place on campus: Alice Holst Theater, one hour before show time.

My time at PUC has taught me: The beauty of questions, the importance of faith, and that procrastination isn’t a wise study technique.

Darren Hagen

Hometown: Angwin, California

Degrees: B.S. in public relations

Hobbies: Music, photography, and volleyball

Darren in one word: Zany

What I love about PUC: Location, location, location!

A favorite college memory: We were trying to start the year by reminding people to quiet down during programs in the church. So I got up front at Friday night worship dressed as a mafia boss and called up 20 of our biggest guys from Grainger Hall (including Dean Qualley) to help handle a "heckler" we'd planted in the audience.

My time at PUC has taught me: Don't be afraid to ask the hard questions.

Heidi Polston

Hometown: Kirksville, Missouri

Degrees: Social science psychology and organizational leadership

Hobbies: Disney and spending time with my husband and daughters

Heidi in one word: Caring

What I love about PUC: The people — being part of the PUC family.

Favorite place on campus: The Dining Commons — Great food! Great fun!

My time at PUC has taught me: Everyone is welcome, cared for and a part of our PUC family.

Scott Callender

Hometown: Centerville, Ohio

Degrees: B.S. in business administration (marketing) and advertising art direction degree from Creative Circus

Hobbies: Reading, culinary pursuits, sports, art, traveling, and music

Scott in one word: Weird

What I love about PUC: I love that PUC feels like a large family. It is a place that is safe to ask tough questions and get the support you need when you are having a tough day.

Favorite place on campus: The Campus Center. I always run into people I haven't seen in awhile. It is a great place to go when you just want to relax and play some games or watch some TV.

Favorite PUC professor: Lary Taylor, who always took the time to help me, even if I called him at 10 p.m. about a homework problem.
