Duties

Reporting to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center include, but are not limited to, the following duties:

Student Tutor Management:

  • Recruit, hire, assign wages, train, and supervise student tutors recommended by academic department chairs course instructors and mentors. 
  • Provide quarterly training for education methods and sexual harassment. Hold quarterly training sessions per quarter. Address disciplinary issues such as lateness, cancellations, breach of confidentiality, or harassment.
  • Schedule group or individual tutoring sessions in the TLC and other facilities as needed
  • Communicate with individual faculty, tutors, and campus at large regarding initial tutoring schedules and subsequent schedule updates.
  • Maintain Writing Lab appointments and lab instructors approved by the English Department
  • Evaluate payroll reports for discrepancies in student employee hours; rectify discrepancies between student employee and payroll system.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Strong student-service orientation with positive interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organized and highly productive in work environment
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Able to work evenings.
  • Strong English writing skills.
  • Able to organize, delegate and lead work teams.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
