Duties
Pacific Union College, located in Napa Valley, CA is seeking a part time Men’s Volleyball Coach. PUC is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and California Pacific Conference. This position is responsible for recruiting and building a men’s volleyball program consistent with the mission and vision of Pacific Union College. The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic, and teaching-oriented. As a member of the college community, the Men’s Volleyball Coach will be committed to the sound educational process, establishing traditions, promoting Seventh-day Adventist values, and developing greater maturity in Christ for the PUC community.
This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, keeping him/her involved in all planning, organizing, staff and development of Pacific Union College’s men’s volleyball program.

Essential Functions
- Formulate a successful philosophy to promote the academic excellence and sportsmanship of the student-athlete.
- Develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit student-athletes of good Christian character and fit for the institution.
- Plans and sets-up activities, practices, and games. Works with the athletic director in preparing practice and game schedules.
- Develops appropriate training programs and practice schedules.
- Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in the sport of volleyball.
- Supervises student-athletes while representing the institution and Pioneers Athletics and ensures appropriate behavior both home and away.
- Ensures that appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletic activities and athletes are followed.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Previous 2-3 years of experience coaching is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrate a record of success in coaching volleyball and recruiting student-athletes (collegiate-level preferred)
- Familiar with NAIA governing rules
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Willingness to travel for competitions and recruiting
