Week of Worship: PUC Students Share Personal Testimonies of Wholehearted Devotion to God

Throughout the years, PUC has been blessed by the powerful messages of pastors and guest speakers during special events such as week of prayer and vespers. Student Week of Worship holds a unique significance, allowing students to speak authentically from their hearts to their peers. From Jan. 22-26, PUC hosted its annual Student Week of Worship in the PUC Church and Paulin Hall. This year, five students representing different years and majors shared testimonies and reflections on the college’s overarching theme of the school year, “All In.”

Meet Kyler VanHook: Bible Study & Sabbath School Coordinator

Junior theology major Kyler VanHook has been the Bible study and sabbath school coordinator for PUC’s Campus Ministries team for two years. He became interested in joining this team after noticing how much he wanted to help with vespers and programs like Week of Prayer. After Kyler’s first year assisting, he was contacted about officially joining the team- and ever since then, it has been an amazing time!

Faces of PUC: Cindy Roy

Sophomore pre-nursing student Cindy Roy grew up in an Adventist family and community. She moved to California three years ago with her family and was looking for an Adventist college to attend and found PUC. After visiting the campus last year, she liked everything about the college- especially its beauty. With home being two hours away, she felt close to home, and everything PUC offered helped Cindy decide to start her college career at PUC.

From PUC Treasure Hunt to the Mission Field: Sean Brizendine’s Journey to Ministry and Service

Sean Brizendine’s path toward the ministry had an unexpected beginning—a treasure hunt at Pacific Union College. In 2007, a campus-wide email presented Sean with an intriguing challenge: "Find the Top 20 Reasons To Be a Student Missionary and Receive $20." The task was straightforward—locate all the reasons scattered around PUC's campus, then present them at the chaplain's office. Sean wasted no time.

Experience New Cultures, See New Countries, & Make New Friends By Studying Abroad

Wisconsin native Josue Hilario is a junior film student studying at Villa Aurora in Italy. He has always been interested in studying abroad since high school. Although Josue has studied abroad before, this is his first time going through Adventist College Abroad. Also interested in languages, he knew that going to Italy would give him an immersion in the language he’d enjoy. “Plus, who wouldn’t want to study in the heart of Florence, Italy?”

Why One PUC Student Switched from Nursing to Strategic Communication

When Shannea Minell Santiago was younger, she wanted to be a nurse, which is why she initially chose to attend PUC. That quickly changed halfway through her first year of college. Now, in the middle of her junior year, she’s been majoring in strategic communication. Despite the shift, Shannea is glad she picked PUC because the campus experience is unique – small and intimate, creating a special atmosphere.

Faces of PUC: Anna Maria Ramos Marin

Anna Maria Ramos Marin was a sophomore at her high school in Oregon when a PUC academic advisor asked her to meet over Starbucks to discuss the college. With Anna accepting the invitation and conversing about PUC, she ended up applying. Now, Anna is a junior majoring in communication with a minor in public relations and journalism. She has always enjoyed the world of communications and how multifaceted it can be, and when she was younger, Anna enjoyed being in front of cameras and all the aspects of human relations and communication.

Events at PUC

March 1- 3: Religious Liberty Summit 

Pastor Dwight K. Nelson will be the keynote speaker in this year’s Northern California Religious Liberty Summit from March 1-3 at Pacific Union College. Along with other speakers, workshop topics include Christian nationalism, religious liberty in the workplace, and more. 

April 19-20: PUC Homecoming

Homecoming is a wonderful opportunity for our alumni, family, and friends to reconnect, reminisce about their days at PUC, and share experiences together. To PUC alumni, we hope to see you and celebrate over 140 years of the college. For more information, please visit puc.edu/homecoming

May 5: Angwin to Angwish 

Set in the richly forested trails of Napa Valley’s Pacific Union College, Angwin to Angwish is a trail run offering incredible natural scenery and challenging courses. The trail run, taking place on Sunday, May 5th, offers 3 different distances: 1 mile kids run, 10k, and 26k. All distances are challenging but a fun event for runners of all ages. The cost for the 26k is $95, $70 for the 10k, and $20 for the 1 mile kids run with no price change. The proceeds from this event will go to benefit the PUC Athletics. June 23-28: PacificQuest

PUC will host a week-long college early summer program held on the campus for students who are interested in STEM, aviation, film, and music. These four camps give students the opportunity to explore college and careers early. Students who complete the program earn 1 unit of college credit. Learn more at puc.edu/pacificquest

June 30 - July 5: PQ Rise

This week-long college early summer program will be held at PUC’s Albion Field Station for students who want to explore marine science and art while experiencing college and careers early. Students will participate in daily academic programming, recreational opportunities, and evening activities. Students who complete the program earn 1 unit of college credit. Learn more at puc.edu/pacificquest

Pioneer Promise Scholarship

PUC wants all students to be able to receive a high-quality Christian education, especially those with the highest needs. The scholarship covers tuition and the general fee and is available to on-campus freshman and transfer students. To qualify, students must accept eligible student Stafford loans. Utilizing a parent loan or parent loan denial for their tuition is not mandatory, but students have the option to use such loans for residence hall costs as needed.
