About the Coach

Coach Paulson Teacher and coach, a lover of the sport of running and the students that participate in it. Coach Paulson's coaching philosophy is centered on helping students discover the joy of doing their best, on the trail, in the classroom, and in service for God and man. His experience in the world of Cross Country comes from 12 years of coaching at the secondary level and 14 years at Pacific Union College. As a coach he is most honored when he finds one of his team alumni on the trail or track enjoying the sport after they have completed their collegiate career. It is this kind of coaching philosophy that has caused the coaches of the California Pacific Athletic Conference to honor him as their Cross Country coach of the year 4 times. As a runner he enjoys early morning runs along the trails in the nearly 2000 acres of the Pacific Union College outback. He has completed numerous 5 and 10K races along with 4 marathons. His academic credentials include a B.S. in Physical Education from Andrews University, an M.A. in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University, and is currently near completion of a Ph.D. in Leadership at Andrews University.
