REVOfest—this year’s combination of the REVO fundraiser and Spring Fest—was awesome. I’m proud to join many fellow students in saying to all who made REVOfest possible: Job well done! The campus felt so alive on Sunday with all the hustle and bustle of the the Angwin Car Show, the Angwin Fire Department Flea Market, the REVO stuff sale, and Spring Fest’s conglomeration of campus club promotion. I could hear the excitement surrounding the REVO concert and fashion show all over campus, even up in Nichol Hall!
It’s week eight already, but summer still seems so far away! This quarter gets crazier and crazier as it goes. Indeed, life isn’t as simple as it used to be freshman year. Along with good grades and a legit college life, now there are internships, graduation next year, and an existential crisis to deal with. It’s enough to burn out the best of us.
I feel like I did when I was 18 and done with high school: Ready to move out and move on. It’s somewhat stressful. I hold myself to high standards in order to finish my college career strong, but I’ve come to realize that I might take these standards too far. Perhaps I can let loose from the idea that a B grade is bad. But, then again, I could be jumping the gun onto the chill train.
I can’t reap the fruits I sow if I’ve planted no seeds. A wise man once told me, “If you’re not lead dog, the view never changes.” After doing my due diligence for my San Diego Chargers internship interview, I learned Manti Te’o has a similar philosophy: “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” I’ll conclude with one last inspirational quote to complete this motivational triad: “What hurts more? The pain of hard work? Or the pain of regret?”
