These decades opened for PUC with the acquisition of the gymnasium in 1950 and concluded with phones being installed in dorm rooms and women being allowed to wear pantsuits to class in 1970. During this time, PUC enjoyed a short-lived lampshade industry, established the Alumnus of the Year award, and initiated the General Education program. "The Thinker" statue went up in front of Newton, and Paulin Hall and the new church were completed.
