Salary based upon Degree & Experience (plus denominational benefits)

Duties:

The position requires knowledge of Spanish and Latin American culture, literature, and history, life experience in one or more Spanish-speaking communities, and the ability to effectively teach beginning through advanced levels of Spanish. A willingness to develop skills for the teaching of Spanish for Health Care Professionals and other courses that may be established is valued.

Faculty member is expected to actively promote the department’s course offerings, degrees, and study abroad program, as well as contribute to department development. The faculty selected is expected to competently advise students majoring or minoring in Spanish, as well as those interested in enrolling in a course offered by the department or study abroad in programs offered through Adventist Colleges Abroad.

Faculty member is requested to participate in the department’s social activities, including periodic social gatherings with students, sponsorship of a student club, and similar activities. Additional responsibilities include supervision of student workers and service on campus committees.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Master degree required. Doctorate preferred
  • College-level teaching experience required
  • Proficiency in additional foreign languages, particularly French, is desirable.
