Parents Weekend - October 16-18, 2009

All family and friends of current PUC students are invited to the 2009 Annual Parents' Weekend.

Schedule of Events

Friday, October 16

  • 5:30 p.m.
    Registration | Fireside Room
    Pick up your registration packet and purchase meal tickets for Sabbath lunch & dinner. Registration packets can also be picked up at Sabbath breakfast and in the church lobby before the service; meal tickets, however, will not be sold on Sabbath.
  • 6:00 p.m.
    Dinner with the President | Fireside Room
    Open the weekend with worship, dinner, and a keynote address from Dr. Heather J. Knight. Hosted by PUC. RSVP required; this event is full.
  • 8:00 p.m.
    Vespers | Sanctuary
    Join the campus in welcoming the Sabbath at our weekly vespers.
  • 9:00 p.m.
    Interactions | Fireside Room
    Relax with your student at the post-vespers hangout.
  • 9:00-10:30 p.m.
    Star Gazing | Young Observatory
    Drop by the Young Observatory (weather permitting) for the best view of our galaxy. Park at the airport and follow signs. Wear shoes appropriate for a dirt road.

Sabbath, October 17

  • 9-9:45 a.m.
    Breakfast | Winning Hall
    Wake up to a continental breakfast with your student's residence hall deans. Hosted by PUC.
  • 10:00 a.m.
    Majestic Worship | Sanctuary
    Worship in a more traditional format, the first of two services offered each Sabbath.
  • 11:00-11:15 a.m.
    Hospitality | Outside PUC Church
    Interact with church members and friends while grabbing a light snack. Hosted by the PUC church.
  • 11:00 a.m.
    Sabbath School | Scales Chapel
    Join College students in their weekly program or join any of the other classes offered.
  • Noon Lunch*
    Dining Commons
    Enjoy Sabbath lunch at our Dining Commons. Meal tickets available for purchase or use your student's ID card.
  • 12:10 p.m.
    The Gathering | Sanctuary
    Worship in a more contemporary setting and format; the second of two services offered each Sabbath.
  • 3-5:00 p.m.
    Afternoon Activities | Campus
    Activities provided:
    • Teaching and Learning Center Open House (refreshments)
    • Counseling Center Open House
    • Rasmussen Art Gallery (open 1-5 p.m.)
    • Campus Historical Tour (self guided)
    • Elmshaven (own vehicle required; open 2-6 p.m. )
    • Hiking (meet at airport)
  • 5-7:00 p.m.
    Dinner* | Dining Commons
    Enjoy Sabbath supper at our Dining Commons. Meal tickets available for purchase or use your student's ID card.
  • 7:30 p.m.
    Concert | Paulin Hall
    Enjoy a music concert featuring PUC student ensembles.
  • 8:30 p.m.
    Reception | Paulin Hall lobby
    Close the evening with a light dessert reception. Hosted by the PUC Alumni Department.

Sunday, October 18

  • 10 a.m.-noon, come and go
    Brunch | Note new location: Dining Commons, side rooms
    Before leaving campus, enjoy brunch with our administration and academic department chairs. RSVP required; this event is full.

* Sabbath lunch and dinner meal tickets are available for purchase at Friday registration, or the meal may be cared for in cash, credit card, or placed on your students' PUC card. Dinner with the President, Sabbath breakfast, and Sunday brunch are all hosted by PUC.
