Health care is an important and often contentious issue. Recognizing that, Pacific Union College wants to be proactive regarding the health care needs of every student that attends. In response to increasing health care costs, PUC has determined that providing our own insurance plan for all students is both smart and economical. The plan is designed to ensure that no student is without essential medical coverage, and that all students requiring medical services can get back to their studies and on with their lives as quickly as possible.
All enrolled students are required to carry our mandatory group health plan regardless of individual coverage. This plan assures that students will be covered in the event of an accident, injury, or illness needing higher levels of care than what is offered on campus (examples: radiology services, surgery, physician specialists, and emergency care). This 12-month comprehensive plan allows access to outside care at an affordable rate with our local hospital and medical providers. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the plan's conditions and limitations located on our college website at http://www.puc.edu/campus-services/student-health-plan. For more information regarding coverage or claim processing, please contact our on-campus plan administrator at (707) 965-6243.
To access the health plan funds, students must visit the health clinic for pre-authorization whenever outside medical care is indicated and/or requested. In cases of an actual emergency, it is required that students call (707) 965-6789 within 24 hours of care received.
