The office of public relations provides a number of services, specifically related to publicizing college events or programs to the public, for the campus community.
The office of public relations will assist with publicity for all programs or events that include or are targeted to an off-campus audience. Simply arrange a meeting with us to discuss your needs, and we will help to create a publicity plan. Our writers will send out press releases to our contacts in community publications and even help you write ad and brochure copy. Then our team of graphic designers put together posters, brochures, programs, and other published documents to publicize your event. PR does not charge for our services, but we do not pay for marketing materials unless it is already part of the comprehensive college marketing plan.
While the PR office does its best to keep up, it's impossible to hear about every bit of news on campus. So sometimes we miss out on a great story. To minimize this from happening, we encourage all faculty and staff to notify us when they hear good news. Whether it's an upcoming event or a story about person who's accomplished something special, let us know and we'll be there with our camera, pad, and pen.
Occasionally something happens that demands an official statement from the college. This might involve a tragedy on campus, such as the death of a student or employee. Or it may involve an important announcement. In these situations, a clear, consistent message is critical. If you happen to receive a call from the media during one of these situations, unless you are the designated spokesperson, please direct all questions to the PR office at extension 6303.
