Computer Configuration Recommendation

• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) - to protect your computer from power outages which sometimes occur at PUC
• Property insurance coverage specifically for the computer. This would be obtained through your personal insurer

Minimum Recommended PC Configuration:

• 2.5 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
• 2 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit). Any more than 3.5 GB requires 64-bit processor
• Windows 7, Windows Vista, XP Pro, XP Media Center or XP Home
• 120+ GB hard drive
• DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
• DVD-ROM Drive
• Audio output
• Current antivirus software (or we can provide you with one when you get here)
• A word processing program (Word, OpenOffice, etc)
• A network adapter (an ethernet card for a desktop, an ethernet adapter and wireless card for a laptop)

Please make sure that your copy of Windows is a legal copy, otherwise you may not be able to get Windows High-Priority and Critical Updates (a requirement for being online at PUC).

Recommended Mac Configuration:

• G5 - 2.5 GHz or above
• 1+ GB RAM
• Mac OS X
• 120+ GB hard drive
• A word processing program (iWork or MS Office Mac version)
• Airport card (for wireless network access)
