Homecoming 2009 is coming up, and we are very excited to have you back on campus. There are plans for events, such as vespers, with some of our traditions - the lighting of the missionary map, a focus on service, and the ringing of the Healdsburg bell. This year's vespers will feature Samir Berbawy, '79, speaking with Jon Thornton, '04, and they will highlight student missions in Egypt. There will be the procession of countries in which both alumni returned missionaries and current student returned missionaries will represent the country where they offered their service.
The following morning, both church services will have Craig Newborn, '69, as the speaker. Newborn graduated from PUC with a bachelor's degree in history, and he is now the senior pastor at Oakwood College. Again this year you can join friends and family at the Sabbath potluck, have time to visit with the faculty from your former department, attend a Dramatic Arts Society production, and of course, the always anticipated honor class receptions.
If you were a member of one of the classes of 1939, 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989, or 1999, you can count on a class gathering on Saturday night so watch for information from your class president or our department on the details of the gathering. You might recognize some of the names of those class members who are working on these gatherings or participating in the program: Dr. James Phang, Rita Hoshino, Keith Neergaard, or Barbara Youngblood.
This year's Homecoming will be a great opportunity to recapture the past and make memories in the present.
