Stacy Catalon is a well-known face on campus. Her outgoing personality and dedication to her life’s passions make her hard to forget. Come Friday night, it is not uncommon to see Stacy standing before the congregation at vespers, guitar in hand, with her eyes closed in passionate song and worship. Stacy is a hardworking student, but remembers to take the time for what is important in life — faith, family, and friends. Her love for people is part of the reason she decided to pursue medicine as a career.

The end of Stacy Catalon’s junior year proved to be rewarding when she received the Opportunity with Legacy Research Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes students for significant academic achievements, and Stacy was recognized for her achievements in biology.

Stacy is now a senior and a quarter away from finishing her degree at PUC. She has not forgotten the hard work it has taken to get this far and is honored to have received a scholarship for her work. “I was very grateful for it, and it’s always nice to be the recipient of a scholarship,” she says. “It’s nice to get some reassurance for the work that I’ve done.”

Stacy’s dream is to attend medical school at Loma Linda University and felt PUC to be the best place to begin. She is majoring in biology and really enjoys the program and the professors. “I feel like I learned a lot,” she explains. “I think the professors are very receptive and approachable; they are very willing to help and explain things that you don’t understand.”

Loma Linda is Stacy’s hometown, and a deciding factor in choosing PUC was the distance. She felt that it was far enough away, but still close enough if she wanted to go home. She came to PUC for College Days in 2005 and was drawn to the campus. “I liked and still like the feel of it,” she states.

She is unsure of her direction in the medical field, but is not worried. She will decide what area she wants to specialize in once she is in medical school. What she does know is that medicine is definitely what she wants of her life. She is also excited to move back to Loma Linda and be with her good friends.

Not unlike any other student, Stacy enjoys spending time with friends, as well as playing the guitar and playing sports.
