In honor of PUC's 100th year in Angwin, PUC and the PUC Church are partnering in 40 Days of Prayer for PUC. The event, currently in progress, aims to focus the college's constituents on thanksgiving and petition to God on behalf of the school, its students, its administration, and its faculty. Each of the 40 days will focus on a specific issue of concern, most corresponding to specific events on campus as the college gears up for the start of the new academic year.
Of special importance this year is prayer for PUC's new president, Dr. Heather Knight. The first two days were set aside for asking for wisdom and courage for Dr. Knight and her family as they settled into a new job and community.
This week's suggested prayer topics include requests for God to strengthen the bonds between PUC and the community, providence in roommate matching, success for the staff, faithfulness when Jesus returns, and for the name of Jesus to be glorified. Focus will shift toward prayers on behalf of the students as they begin to return to campus in the week before school starts on the 21st of September.
The 40 Days culminate in the first Sabbath of the school year, when participants are suggested to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit onto campus and campus ministries.
"We are so blessed to be part of a community that prays together," says Nancy Lecourt, vice president for academic administration. "As we celebrate 100 years since Ellen White came to Angwin to dedicate PUC, we are joyfully renewing our commitment to listening to God's Spirit and joining together with the PUC Church, PUC Prep, and PUC Elementary school in the work of Christian education."
