The Teaching and Learning Center provides academic support services that enhance students' abilities to succeed in college. Students regularly come to the TLC for academic advising, tutoring and academic mentoring programs. The TLC also coordinates a wide range of support services for disabilities. Study skills courses and academic efficiency seminars are also offered each quarter in our TLC Great Room. The TLC is located just north of the Dining Commons on the walkway toward Davidian and Chan Shun Halls.
Academic advisors can give you special insider tips that help you transition faster into the new college culture. Advisors can help you know which classes to take each quarter to get your degree without wasting time.
Some students wonder why they experience a significant GPA drop between high school and their first year of college. This can happen when students approach these very different learning environments with similar time management paradigms.
Our services are designed, whenever possible, to remove the obstacles to learning caused by a disability and, when they can't be removed, to reduce their limiting effect.
The TLC offers dynamic and fun-filled seminars in study skills and time management skills. Students learn to capitalize on which learning and organizational strengths they already possess, rather than focusing on academic weaknesses.
The TLC offers free group tutoring to PUC students five nights a week, Sunday-Thursday, for over 25 different college subjects. PUC students may attend sessions in business, languages, math, science and most lower-division GE subjects.
