Graphic Design
Statistics supplied by the United States Department of Labor indicate that graphic design will be one of the faster growing occupations during the next decade. It will continue to increase with the business community's emphasis on developing more innovative and specialized marketing techniques for their products and services.

Film and Television
In this fast growing industry, the real question is: Where will enough trained personnel be found to fill the available positions? Growth in this area is expected to be in the fastest category for all new occupations. Possible position titles include producer, writer, director, director of photography, editor, technical director, motion graphic artist, production coordinator, production manager.

Fine Arts
Many fine artists go on to teach art at the college level while continuing to create works for exhibition in galleries and museums. The highly motivated individual may establish a career as a self-employed professional.

Photography
Present marketing trends indicate that photographers will continue to be in high demand during the next decade for everything from photographing products to fashion designs.

Graphic Design
Starting salaries vary considerably. Depending upon one's education, experience, and creative ability, earnings can range from $31,000-$100,000 annually with some incomes for art directors actually exceeding these figures.

Film and Television
Entry-level jobs start in the mid $20,000-$40,000 range and extend up to $100,000 depending on expertise and area of employment.

Fine Arts
Starting salaries vary considerably. Depending upon one's education, experience, and creative ability, earnings can range from $18,000 - $65,000 annually, with some incomes actually exceeding these figures.

Photography
Salaries vary considerably. Depending upon one's education, experience, and creative ability, earnings range from $18,000–$50,000 annually with some incomes actually exceeding these figures.

  • Paul Kim, '04, Film and Television – Pursuing an MFA in film and electronic media at the School of Communication at American University in Washington, D.C. Works as a graduate associate for the university's Center for Social Media and is a producer for Vervent.
  • Kit Kohler, '04, Digital Media – Works in SOMA (South Of Market) at a company called Premier Retail Networks, the founder of "place-based media."

Fine Art:

  • Stephanie (Gifford) Reeder, '01, Fine Art – Completed master's in art education and teaches high school art in Fort Worth, Texas.
  • Shem Aguila, '03, Fine Art – Works as a physical therapist and shows artwork in local galleries in Pacific Grove, California.
  • Jacquelyn Hewitt, '03, Fine Art – Works as a freelance artist and clothing designer in Newport, Oregon, showing paintings in Oregon and California galleries.

Graphic Design:

  • Karem (Garcia) Pedersen, '02, Graphic Design – Graphic Designer for the Loma Linda University Medical Center marketing department, Loma Linda, California.
  • Desirae Struthers, '04, Graphic Design – Graphic designer for Deep Group in Springfield, Missouri, working on projects for such clients as Nestle and Starbucks. www.deepgroup.com.
