With a wide range of experiences in diverse healthcare settings, the A.S. in Nursing program prepares students to function as professionals in a variety of nursing situations. Graduates of the A.S. in Nursing program are eligible to become R.N.s after passing the state licensing examination. The A.S. in Nursing registered nurse may then proceed to PUC's baccalaureate degree program, designed to facilitate educational mobility.
The department also offers an L.V.N. to R.N. A.S. program at Travis Air Force Base for the L.V.N. who desires to pursue professional nursing growth while meeting work responsibilities and other life obligations. Classroom hours are concentrated into core weeks and clinical experiences are scheduled on Sundays.
The BSN Second Step program has been designed to accommodate the working professional which is offered in Angwin and at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa. BSN core courses may be taken fulltime/part-time on the Angwin campus or part-time (18 months) at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center campus. The BSN students in both programs plan their own clinical schedules and participate in their mentor selection, thereby creating clinical experiences that enhance their professional goals. Clinical sites may be arranged with local hospitals and agencies in the students' hometowns.
