Biography:
Hilary Elmendorf, associate professor, specializes in 20th century United States history. Her area of emphasis is atomic bomb history, particularly looking at Christian protests of the bombings from 1945-1952. She also studies modern Japan, and spent six months in 2007 at International Christian University (ICU) in Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan, as a COE Guest Research Fellow. This fellowship allowed her to do research for her dissertation and to publish an article in the COE journal at ICU. She enjoys travel, photography, literature, cooking, baking, and the outdoors.
