Student Opportunities

Business Club

As one of the more popular social clubs at Pacific Union College, the Business Club provides students with a number of opportunities to mix and create lasting memories. The club is open to all majors, thus making it more eclectic. The group is led by eight officers and a faculty sponsor.

The major events include a camping weekend in the fall, usually at Yosemite National Park, a snow skiing long weekend at South Lake Tahoe in the winter, and water skiing or beach trip in the spring. In addition, every quarter the Club hosts a dinner and pre-vespers event on a Friday night.

The Club raises funds for its trips by participating in the campus-wide Fall and Spring Festivals, and other projects in the community.

With fund-raising and corporate sponsors the Club is able to provide benefits beyond the nominal membership fee.

Business Scholarships

Although not many in number, there are several scholarships available to Business majors at Pacific Union College. The Edgar Cleveland scholarship is available to married business students. The Pam Wheeler scholarship is available to those taking the accounting emphasis within the BBA degree program. A new scholarship of approximately $10,000 is available to those with a real need and high academic performance.

Employment Opportunities

Business majors are often hired by local businesses to do accounting or finance work. But probably more students work in the many restaurants in the Napa Valley, to help defray their educational expenses. A number of job opportunities also exist within the Business Department as readers, tutors, and lab assistants for various classes.

Job Opportunities for Seniors:
Because there is no practical way for seniors to identify all companies and organizations recruiting graduates, most students limit job-hunting to their home or college geographic area. Some companies visit colleges to recruit graduates, but can only visit a limited number of campuses.

To help in the employment search, the business department has signed up with AfterCollege. AfterCollege helps students and graduates find part-time, internship, and full-time positions in many different areas of business (accounting, finance, marketing, advertising, human resources, information systems, etc.) with numerous organizations and top U.S. employers. Postings change frequently.

Another job database is AdventistJobNet, the national website for job openings within Seventh-day Adventist organizations.
