Foundations of Learning (15 hours minimum)

- Oral Communication (Speech) 1 course
- Reasoning from Data (Introduction to Statistics) 1 course

Human Identity in Cultural Contexts (11 hours minimum)
- Historical Contexts (History) (8 hours minimum) 2 courses
- Economics (fulfilled by major)

Insights of the Imagination (6 hours minimum)
- 2 courses chosen from two of the following three areas
- Literature
- Visual Arts (must be a "history" or "appreciation" course)
- Music (must be a "history" or "appreciation" course)

The Natural World (4 hours minimum)
- Intermediate Algebra, 1 course (Fulfilled by a full year of Algebra II with semester grades of C- or better at the secondary level, or Intermediate Algebra at college, or higher level algebra course. No college credit is given for Intermediate Algebra since it is a high school level course.)
- Science course with a lab 1 course

Revelation, Belief, and Action (6 hours minimum) fulfilled by major

Health and Fitness (2 hours minimum)
- Health Education, Fitness for Life, or Nutrition 1 course

Practical & Applied Arts (2 hours minimum) fulfilled by major

General Education Electives (22 hours from above categories):*
Six hours of the 22-hour requirement are fulfilled in the major. The remaining sixteen hours of course work beyond the basic General Education requirements must be distributed over at least four of the seven areas above, and may not include more than ten quarter hours in any one area. Additional areas within the seven categories are listed below and can be used to fulfill the General Education elective hours:

- Philosophy
- Social Sciences (Anthropology, Economics, Psychology, Sociology)
- Foreign Languages
- The Natural World
- Practical & Applied Skills
