Financing a college education is one of the most perplexing challenges
students and parents face. Families often mistakenly assume that
they cannot afford a high-quality Seventh-day Adventist college
education. With careful planning, a combination of family and student
resources, and a variety of financial aid and payment options,
most students find they can afford to enroll at PUC. Let's explore
the options together.
Applying for Financial Aid
To begin the financial aid process, complete a Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Applying for Financial Aid
To begin the financial aid process, complete a Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA includes necessary information
for the U.S. Department of Education to determine your expected
family contribution. Your FAFSA processor then transmits your information
to the colleges you select and sends you a "Student Aid Report" to
review for accuracy. Additional information may be requested by
PUC.

Financial Aid Sources
Financial aid sources at Pacific Union College include grants
and low-interest loans. Grants are gift aid and are not repaid.
When you complete the FAFSA, you apply for the following grants:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- Pacific Union College Grant
California residents apply for the Cal Grant by mailing the FAFSA
and the GPA Verification Form no later than March 2.
Low-interest loans are part of most financial
aid award packages. These loans help you pay for college and repayment
begins after you leave school. The FAFSA is your application for
the following loans:
- Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan
- Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan
- Federal Perkins Loan

Financial Aid Eligibility
Along with filing appropriate application documents, to be eligible
for financial aid
you must:
- be a citizen or permanent U.S. resident
- demonstrate financial need through the application process
- register for at least 12 credit hours
- maintain satisfactory academic progress
- not be in default on a student loan
- not owe a federal grant refund
- be registered for Selective Service if required to do so
- have no prior conviction for drug distribution or possession.
Please keep us informed of changes in your financial circumstances
or in the information you submitted on your applications.

Financial Aid Packets
We will provide for you a financial aid application packet containing
all the documents you need. After you apply and submit the required
documents, the information in your financial aid file will be verified.
PUC performs this service for each financial aid applicant.
Following the eligibility verification process, you will receive a financial
aid award packet containing:
- financial check sheet.
- your award letter indicating your financial aid and scholarships
- appropriate loan documents
- lender choice list
- payment agreement

Through its scholarship program, Pacific Union College recognizes

Payment Options
Three payment options are available if you don't have loans or
grants.
The Tuition Guarantee Plan: Under this plan, the tuition cost in effect at the
time of the first payment agreement will remain in effect until graduation, provided
the student is enrolled full-time continuously (except summers) and the total
estimated costs (including room and board) are paid by September 15 each year.
(This discount is only available to students without need-based grants or loans.)
Cash Discount: When the total cost for the quarter (tuition, room, and board)
is paid in advance, the cost will be discounted 2%. Payment must be received
by September 15, December 15, and March 15 to be eligible for this discount.
(This discount is available only to students without need-based grants or loans.)
Monthly Payment Plan: You may choose to make your September 15 payment followed
by eight equal monthly payments throughout the school year.

Financial Aid Workshops
You are cordially invited to attend our Financial Aid
Workshops conducted at the academies in the Northern California,
Central California and Hawaii conferences.
Two workshops are offered. One workshop-during October/November-will provide
financial information, and another-during January/February-will help you
complete the financial aid application forms. Please call Enrollment at 1-800-862-7080,
