President's Welcome
As you browse through the pages of our web site, there is a common thread I hope you’ll see. It runs through our academic program, our physical campus, our student association, and our cultural activities. Simply put, Pacific Union College is a place brimming with real life--social, physical, mental--that is rooted in a real belief in a real God.
At Pacific Union College, we believe that a Christ-centered approach to education goes hand-in-hand with academic excellence. This may surprise some, but it shouldn’t. After all, Christian education--that is, helping students discover a Christian worldview--involves striving for excellence in all areas of life, including the training of the mind and spirit. Or, as I like to put it, it is possible to live in Athens and Jerusalem at the same time. In this sense, Pacific Union College offers undergraduate students a complete, whole-life education.
More than 120 years ago, one of our college’s founders expressed hope that Pacific Union College would become a place for “thinkers, not mere reflectors of other men’s thoughts.” While such an ideal is difficult to achieve, it is, we believe, a noble ideal, worthy of pursuit.
Over the past decade, Pacific Union College has received numerous
accolades for its academic program. U.S. News & World Report
ranks the college among the top Western regional liberal arts
colleges. Our students consistently score above the 90th percentile
in Major Field Assessment Tests. We’re proud of these accomplishments,
proud of our qualified faculty and our terrific students. But academic
laurels mean little to us without the grander goal of creating an
environment where students can explore and experience this marvelous,
mysterious thing called faith.
