[PUC Invitational Academy Basketball Tournament] Continue with subjects and verbs review. Complete ex. 12 and Rev. B. Write sentences (underline simple subjects once and verbs twice) that fit these guidelines:

  1. An initial "there" sentence with a compound subject
  2. A question with the helping verb in front of the simple subject
  3. A statement with the predicate first and subject last
  4. An imperative sentence (command) with a compound verb
  5. A sentence with three prepositional phrases
  6. A sentence with three of your friends as a compound subject
  7. A sentence beginning with a prep phrase
  8. A sentences with a compound subject and compound verb

If there is time, go over yesterday's exercises in class. No hmwk.

  1. Copy out sentences on every other line on your paper. (Leave space between each line of writing. This will give you lots of space for underlining, boxing, and labeling.)
  2. Cross out prepositional phrases.
  3. Underline simple subjects once.
  4. Underline verbs twice. (Remember to include helping verbs.)
  5. Box and label direct objects (DO) and indirect objects (IO).

Those who finish before classmates can begin Rev. Ex. E (using exercise directions). No hwmk (if you have completed steps 1 & 2 above).

Begin ex. 23 & 24 using these directions: Make four columns on your paper. Head the columns "subject" "verb" "complement" and "ID". In the "ID" column, you'll write: PA, PN, DO, or IO.   2. An adverb prep phrase telling when an action occurs.

  4. An adverb prep phrase telling where something happens.
  5. Both an adjective and adverb prep phrase.
  6. Piggybacking prep phrases. (Ex: at the top of the hill near my house)
  7. A prep phrase at the beginning. (ID the phrase--adj or adv)

Underline and appropriately identify the features of the sentences. Due by end of class.
