Personal Stuff

My wife, May, and I were married in 1987.

I graduated  with a B.S. in Psychology in 1981. I earned my Masters degree in Theology and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1990.

I did my clinical internship at the VA hospital in Martinez (before it was mortally wounded by the earthquake). There I got specialized training in Neuropsychological Assessment, Family Therapy, Assessment of Sexual Dysfunction and Group Therapy, along with Individual psychotherapy and Assessment. I worked as a staff psychologist at Napa State Hospital for two years, where I got a lot of experience working with severley, chronically mentally ill populations, and Forensic Psychology..

I am currently a licensed psychologist in the state of California (License # PSY 13187) and have a part-time private practice in Angwin, where I see adults and adolescents in psychotherapy and do a lot of psychological assessments, mostly for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Learning Disabilities.

My primary occupation is as professor of psychology in the Behavioral Science Department at Pacific Union College.

Here is a picture of my beautiful wife May

I took this picture of her myself outside of the old Boskos in Calistoga. May was born in the Philippines, but grew up on the island of Lanai in Hawaii. We met in college (well, I was a senior in college, and she was a freshman in high school).

We have two daughters and a son. I used to post descriptions of their personalities here, but I find they change faster than this web page does. Sasha was born in 1989, Chloe' in 1990 and Josh in 1997. A few photographs of them from the 2002-04 period follow:

Here are a couple of photos of Sasha, at her 8th grade graduation in June of 2003

Sasha is in High School as of this writing

Here are a few photographs of Chloe'.  One is right before we entered "The Catacombs" on her 7th Grade Trip to Shasta

Chloe' is in 8th Grade as of this writing

Here are a few photographs of our son Josh. In one he is reading one of his (and my) favorite books at Thanksgiving in 2003. In the other we are on our way to PacBell (ok, SBC) Park in the early summer of 2004.

Josh is in 2nd grade as of this writing

There is really only one basketball team in the world - the LAKERS. Everyone else is just running around in short pants. I have followed the Lakers for a long time, through the ups and the downs since I was a young child - I remember Mel Counts and Darrall Imhoff, Elgin Baylor and the great Jerry West, as well as the greatest professional sports franchise ever assembled, the Showtime Lakers of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy et. al. I have enjoyed the recent run of the Shaq-Kobe Lakers, and suffered through the tragic summer of 2004 when the team imploded. It doesn't matter though - through thick and thin, me and my house root for the Lakers.

I only miss two things about living in Los Angeles -the LA Times (a real newspaper) and the Lakers. Thanks to the "mini-dish" I can now keep track of my boyz, and thanks to the web I can read the Times. Technology is wonderful.
