To earn a bachelor's degree from PUC, students are required to
take 192 quarter units (128 semester units)* of credit. These
credits can be grouped into three categories:
1. General Education – 68 total quarter units (52 units of General Education are outside of the major and 16 units of GE are included in the program for a total of 65 units)
2. Electives – 80 quarter units
3. Major – 60 quarter units
4. Totals – 53 + 78 + 61 = 192
Our program representative will work with each student to develop
an individual program to meet graduation requirements.
General Education
The General Education (GE) courses ensure that students are equipped
with the basic tools of learning and have been exposed to knowledge
in a range of disciplines. These courses are the foundation of
what defines a liberally educated person. An outline of the GE
requirements can be viewed by clicking on General Education.
PUC has articulation agreements that show which community college
courses fulfill the GE requirements for a PUC degree. Depending
on prior formal education, students may have acquired a number
of the general education course requirements already. Once transcript
copies are submitted, PUC will provide an analysis of which additional
GE courses are needed. Students will want to make it a priority
to complete these as part of their plans toward graduation.
Electives
Elective courses are those that are not specifically prescribed.
Electives are courses that you choose because of your interests,
that are transferable, and that you take in addition to the major
courses and General Education courses.
Major
Major courses are provided through PUCs Bachelor of Science in
Management (BSM) program. These are upper division courses specific
to the field of study and the degree. The 61 quarter units of major
courses amount to just under one third of the total units needed
to earn a bachelor's degree.
The prerequisite for full acceptance into PUCs Bachelor of Science
in Management program is a minimum of 90 quarter units (60 semester
units) of transferable credits. A student who enters the program
with only the minimum of transfer units will need to accumulate
roughly 40 additional quarter units of credits from other sources
to earn a degree. The options for earning college credits toward
a degree include:
- Other regular or on-line PUC courses
- Transferable college
courses from other accredited institutions, which may include:
- Regular courses
- On-line courses
- Correspondence courses (18 quarter units maximum)
- Testing: CLEP, DANTES, Regent College Exams, PUC Challenge
Exams (45 quarter units maximum)
-
Convertible Military Training (DD214 documentation required)
-
Documentation of Life Learning equivalent to PUC courses, acquired
through hobbies, personal study, or professional training (36 quarter
units maximum)
