Long , long ago during da beginning of the Hawaiian invasion, I mean, Hawaiian infestation, I mean... Well, you know what I mean. Anywayz, the beginning of the Hawaiian Club was during the academic year of 1938-39, and it was so long ago that the Hawaiian students had to ride a boat to get to the mainland. And no... Not one row boat if you are thinking that, but that would be interesting... Hmm... Anyways, talk about fresh off the boat!

When the Hawaiian club first started, there were only four officers. The President of the club was R. E. Delafield, the Vice President was Elden Chalmers, the Secretary was Clara Ching, and the Treasure was Hideo Oshita.

During that first year, the Hawaiian club only did a few activities. One of their major activities however was a Hawaiian show including music, hula, and some cultural lessons teaching a little of some Hawaiian words such as Aloha, Pilikia, Malihini, Pau, and Kama`aina.

The Hawaiian Club on the campus of Pacific Union College (PUC) has a rich history. So many people have been involved with us throughout the years. If you have ever been a part of the Hawaiian Club and would like to share with us how it was when you went to school please e-mail us at rimatsukawa@puc.edu.
